I may choose to wait for the paperback book for cost reasons, but that's more for practical reasons than what I find more attractive. However, when I am browsing the shelves at a bookstore randomly, cover art plays a large part in whether I stop and take a closer look at a book. If I hadn't read such good reviews of the book I wouldn't have bought it or read it! I do enjoy a nice looking cover--such as the cover of Grimspace by Ann Aguirre.
