I really try to give first-in-series books the benefit of doubt -- those books have to grab the reader and set up the world building.

The same can be said about Shadow Game -- If I had to give it a star rating right now, it would be a 3. Enjoyable, didn't turn me off the series or the writer, but not a keeper. I might love the next one.

Kiss of Fury is at least a 4, and I'm not finished reading it yet.

As soon as I finished here, I did a google search on the title. Many of the Amazon viewers feel as you did about her first book. I agree with you. I want to read it if it's first in the series. ;)

Regarding "Kiss of Fury" by Deborah Cooke -- This book is much better than the first Dragonfire book. Donovan is a more fun character and so is the heroine, Alex. Because of the over-arching plot of the series, I would still recommend reading the first book.

I've never read a book by this author. I know I should, but time gets away from me. Plus, I have PILES of books. I'm also eyeballing that book at the upper right hand corner by Deborah Cooke - another author I've been wanting to try. How is Cooke's book?
