The same can be said about Shadow Game -- If I had to give it a star rating right now, it would be a 3. Enjoyable, didn't turn me off the series or the writer, but not a keeper. I might love the next one. Kiss of Fury is at least a 4, and I'm not finished reading it yet. I really try to give first-in-series books the benefit of doubt — those books have to grab the reader and set up the world building.

The same can be said about Shadow Game — If I had to give it a star rating right now, it would be a 3. Enjoyable, didn’t turn me off the series or the writer, but not a keeper. I might love the next one.

Kiss of Fury is at least a 4, and I’m not finished reading it yet.

Donovan is a more fun character and so is the heroine, Alex. Because of the over-arching plot of the series, I would still recommend reading the first book.
