What: Themed Reading Challenge
When: 1 February – 31 July 2009
Who: Caribousmom
Rules: Read 4 to 6 books, in six months, linked by theme. List of books may change at any time. Three different levels of participation: read at least 4 books with the same theme; read at least 5 books that share at least TWO themes; read at least 6 books that share MORE than two themes.
My theme was “Books From the SHOMI imprint”. I read FOUR books for this challenge.
Books in RED are on more than one list/alternate list
- Driven (Eve Kenin) {7 Feb 09} (REVIEW)
- Countdown (Michelle Maddox) {11 May 09} (REVIEW)
- Phenomenal Girl 5 (A. J. Menden) {1 Jul 09} (REVIEW)
- Hidden (Eve Kenin) — sequel to Driven {9 Jul 09} (REVIEW)
As stated above, I chose to read books from the Shomi imprint (Dorchester Publishing). The books under this imprint were a mixture of sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, action/adventure, time-travel, futuristic romances — sometimes, all in the same book. For my own sanity’s sake, I’ve tried to keep the labeling simple.
I enjoyed all of the books; however, of the the four, my favorite is Countdown. Phenomenal Girl 5 comes in second, with it’s surprising plot twists.
As for next year, should Wendy (or someone else) host it, I don’t know if I will participate. With the impending move to Kentucky next summer, I don’t know what books I will have ready access to (ie, not in moving boxes), unless I plan to finish the challenge within the first two months. We’ll just have to see where things stand. 🙄
