In September, I completed 4 books. None of them have a review as of this posting.

The Book Breakdown (how the book counted):

  • The Maverick’s Greek Island Mistress (Kelly Hunter) – H/S (island), Summer Vacation
  • Duel of Hearts (Diane Farr) – Romance, Random, 2nds, Countdown 2010
  • Line of Scrimmage (Marie Force) – New Author, Countdown 2010
  • On the Edge (Ilona Andrews) – Pub 2009, Countdown 2010, 1st in Series

All books count toward the Year of the Reader Challenge

Here’s the status of my backlog. I see October as being the month that I get caught with the reviews:

The backlogged reviews posted:

  • NONE !!

What’s still pending:

  • Eye of the Storm
  • Skykeepers
  • The Wallflower
  • Once Bitten, Twice Shy
  • The Maverick’s Greek Island Mistress
  • Duel of Hearts
  • Line of Scrimmage
  • On the Edge
  • “Magic Mourns” (Ilona Andrews) (Must Love Hellhounds) (Anthology)
  • Time Raiders: The Seduction (Cindy Dees)(Nocturne Bite)

As you can see, this wasn’t a month for reviews. For me, the best time to work on writing is on the weekends. If I get caught up with other things, say a new book catalog program, I lose track of time and before I know it, it’s midnight! Also contributing to this delinquency is the fact that I started participating in a a couple of weekly events and I work on the posts during the weekend because I would never get them done otherwise. Even this post, the majority of which was written on 27 September (Sunday), takes up time I could be using to write.

Enough about that. Let’s move on…

In August’s update, I listed books that were DNF and I wondered if – and how – I should count them toward the Year of the Reader charity challenge. I’ve decided that I will contribute .50 per DNF book. So, 12 books would be $6.00. I will keep the total separate from the completed book amount to prevent confusion on my part. Also in that same post, I mentioned short stories/novellas and how I should count them if I don’t read the whole anthology cover to cover like a normal book or — in the case of the Nocturne Bites — it’s an individual ebook. I’ve decided to contribute $1.00 per short story/novella and keep the amount separate, too. So far, that’s $2.00.

I completed two challenges this month: Romance Reading and New Author. Two challenges ended in September and they were incomplete. I really expected to complete the Summer Vacation Challenge, and would have had I not chose to read The Wallflower. The Wallflower featured a heroine who hides from killers by pretending to a be a senior in high school. Doesn’t fit into the vacation theme at all. As for the Countdown 2009 challenge, I knew that I wasn’t going to finish that one. Though I didn’t finish the 2009 challenge, I signed up for the Countdown 2010.

Romance Reading: 5/5
New Author Challenge: 12/12

4 Oct – Beth F -“I’m falling a bit behind in my reviews too. Hoping to catch up this week.”
4 Oct – Me – “I would have had one up today. Unfortunately, my laptop refuse to aknowledge the existance of the wi-fi connection. I’m on my mom’s laptop and the file is on mine. *sigh* I suppose I could print it out and retype it…”
