Unpacking

My household goods were delivered on Thursday and I’ve been busy unpacking.  The delivery guy made a comment on the number of boxes of books I had.  He did have to carry them downstairs to the basement library.

I also got cable and internet connection set up.  I was suppose to have that done last weekend, but there were technical difficulties.

The new commute is pretty painless — and it would be even less painful if it wasn’t so hot and humid.  I like the new building and I can live with the new setup.

Have I got any reading done?  No.  Too tired when I’ve had free time.  However, I think I read when I’m doing the laundry, instead of unpacking.  And yet . . . most of the boxes in the basement are full of books — so, who knows?  I haven’t seen some of them in YEARS!  They’ve been in storage. :-D

I am so glad to hear that everything is going well for you. I think having a (basement) library is so awesome! Right now, my library is in my closet, fighting my clothes for space. Your post had me thinking: If we can hire movers to move our belongings, why can’t we hire unpackers?!!

I’m really excited about my basement library. I currently don’t have enough shelves, but there is plenty of space to add more — it’s just a matter of time/money.

The delivery people did offer to unpack. However, that could be a double edge sword. I overheard one of the Soldiers in my office mention that he had his mover unpack. One guy did a great job, the other just basically dumped the boxes. Stuff was broken. And there were missing items. I had my crew unpack the box-spring and mattress.

I just finished moving and unpacking myself. What a drag. Technically, there are things to unpack still. But I consider them non-essential items that can stay in the storage building till I decide to throw them out years from now. =) Lucky for me though, I totally consider this to be my last move EVER. Good luck to you with getting yourself back in the swing of things.

Thanks! :-)

I can’t really say if this will be my last move — all I can say is that, I hope I don’t need to move for awhile. :-)
