Reading Has Its Rewards – One Down, Two to Go

As I mentioned in my monthly update, I was fairly certain I would meet my page goal by the end of September.

Well, I reached 20,000 pages before mid-month.

Around the time I was writing the update, I was also busy figuring out which books I would need for the Fall edition of the Seasonal Reading Challenge at Goodreads so I could start reading them. I began with The Secret History of the Pink Carnation (Lauren Willing), which has 426 pages. The next book I picked to read, Three Days to Dead (Kelly Meding), had 405 pages. I had also started to read Emma (Jane Austen) as part as my long-delayed Austen re-read (the book also happened to fit a couple of tasks for the Fall challenge). The edition I was reading had 581 pages. By then, I realized I only needed 927 pages to reach the goal. If I had thought about it a little more, I would have tried to finish Emma first.  Emma and The Secret History of the Pink Carnation together would have been enough to reach 20,000 without Three Days to Dead. Ah, well. 😀

Page Total as of the end of August: 19,073
The Secret History of the Pink Carnation {1-3 Sep 12}: 426
Three Days to Dead {3-11 Sep 12}: 405
Emma {6-14 Sep 12}: 581
Page Total as of 14 September: 20,485
