My own Austen Season

mail

I’m currently reading Jane Austen’s Emma.  My goal was to read the six novels every year.  So far, I’ve not been able to do that, so my revised one is to read three a year.  Last year I read Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility, and Pride and Prejudice.  This year the goal will be Emma, Mansfield Park, and Persuasion.

I’m also reading, as part of All Things Jane, Pride and Prescience by Carrie Berbis.  It’s the first book in a mystery series starring Mr. and Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy.  And if I can squeeze it in, I have Mr. Darcy’s Diary by Amanda Grange (a retelling of Pride and Prejudice from Mr. Dary’s point-of-view) in my TBR.

If that’s not enough Jane Austen, I will be attending the Smithsonian’s lecture series on five of the novels (poor Northanger Abbey) this spring.

As for non-Austen books to be read (hopefully) in the near future:

  • Death at Devil’s Bridge by Robin Paige (4th in the Series)
  • Murder With Peacocks by Donna Andrews (1st in the Series)
  • Shades of Earl Grey by Laura Childs (3rd in the Series
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling

In the meantime, you’ll be seeing more “Flashback” reviews.
