Note: I scheduled this entry in advance so that it posts at 8:00 AM. I’ll be late getting the link posted on the host’s blog. 😉
Teaser Tuesdays asks you to:
Grab your current read.
Let the book fall open to a random page.
Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Please avoid spoilers!
The teaser:
To the left, a skinny woman in booth decorated with a velvet painting of Elvis muttered non-stop to a pair of macaws in a cage. The birds, wet from the damp air, huddled together and probably plotted to kill her if the cage was ever opened.
— from page 36, Bayou Moon (Ilona Andrews)
Why I picked this book: My current read. And because it is written by a favorite author who usually has a bit of humor in her books.
Wow, is that a dark quote! It was just a classic dark that made me read the quote three times with a great smirk across my pale face.

Mad Scientist
Dark?? 😯
(Reads quote again. Looks up passage it came from).
Hmm…Taken out of context, I agree it does come across as dark.
However, the first sentence of the paragraph containing the quote paints a different picture:
The Great Bayou Swap Meet met at a giant plastic cow wearing a straw hat.
It goes on to mention other vendor booths hawking the usual things found at yard sales/flea markets, including a guy looking for a buyer for his Corvette. 🙂
Very harmless and mundane. Mostly. 😉
