February
Better late than never…..

February was a terrible reading month. It took awhile for me to realize it wasn’t just bad ergonomics — the recliner I used for reading and watching TV and my old-and-needs-replacing computer chair — that was causing the neck and back pains (and the headaches). I strained myself using the recliner. The chair, which was in storage for three years and didn’t use for another three, doesn’t have a lever to assist with the reclining/un-reclining. I’d forgotten how much strain I had to put on the upper arms and back muscles to move the chair down and up. I’m fine now. The neck and upper back pain is gone. I take Motrin for the stiffness in the lower back, and as long as I get up and move around at work, I’m good.

I’ve limited my computer time at home during the week. I haven’t been posting my weekly “Spotlight On” as a result, and I have several hand-written reviews that I need to type up and post. I’m not stressing over any of it — I actually got one review posted in February. I’ll do as much as I can on weekends and days off. If I don’t turn those into lazy, all-day reading sprees. Like last weekend — gorged on the Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changelings series and I’m ready for the next release!

Though I got my reading grove back, I’m still behind where I want to be. By the end of February 2012, I had read 15 books. This year, the total is 11. Of the five books I read in February, two were manga and two were short stories. I’ve been thrown off my reading plans for certain challenges (Daughters of England, for example) both here on the blog and on Goodreads. Even my Winter Reading List was derailed.  Some, I can re-adjust, others I’ve abandoned altogether.

  1. I’m glad you’re feeling better! I pulled a muscle in my back last year, and it was definitely not a fun time.

    • Thanks! 😀 Yeah, no fun. Thankfully, it was just my upper back/shoulder area. Most likely pulled it when I was trying to get the recliner back into the upright position.
